WILL THE USE OF SMT2 VOID WARRANTIES?
WHAT DOES SMT2 DO FOR THE EQUIPMENT THAT IS TREATED?

SMT2 only affects ferrous (Fe) metal parts; therefore, it can be safely used in hydraulic systems, HVAC pumps, conveyor systems, automatic transmissions, gear boxes, transfer cases, crankcases, differentials, coolants, fuel, and chain cases – virtually any friction environment.

DOES SMT2 WEAR OUT?
SMT2 is a highly viscous product. SMT2 has a SG/50°C of between 1.3 (lower spec) and 1.37 (upper spec), and it has an Asus/210°F between 65 (lower spec) and 90 (upper spec).
However, the viscosity of SMT2 has no affect on the overall viscosity of the oil or lubricant into which SMT2 is mixed. Unlike “additives” that mix with and alter the characteristics of the oil or lubricant, SMT2 is absorbed into the metal itself and has no affect on the viscosity, pH, or additive package of the oil or lubricant. SMT2 is not an additive, and it actually disappears from the oil or lubricant entirely when it is absorbed into the metal.
DOES SMT2 REPLACE EXISTING OIL OR GREASE VOLUME?
SMT2 has a viscosity of ISO 21 to enable it to quickly penetrate into Fe Surfaces forming a metal hydride barrier that resists metal to metal contact by up to 600% that of engine oil. SMT2 uses the oil in the compartment as a carrier to allow it to migrate to the Fe wear zones where it integrates with the surfaces.
Some of the SMT2 is absorbed into the metal and some remains as “free” SMT2 hovering near the metal that requires protection from wear.
When we do an oil change some of this “Free” SMT2 is drained out therefor 50% of the initial dose is required to maintain the fuel savings and wear protection.
WHAT IS THE VISCOSITY OF SMT2? AND DOES IT ALTER THE VISCOSITY OF OIL
SMT2 is a synthetic formula designed to penetrate into Fe surfaces to resist wear. When SMT2 is added into engine oils the viscosity change is minimal however the load resistance can be up to 600% higher than engine oil only.
When SMT2 is added to high viscosity gear and differential oils it is wise to carry out a oil sample and have the oil in question checked to evaluate its viscosity. This may be lowered by the introduction of SMT2 due to the viscosity difference. To restore any lost viscosity please contact us for advise.
